First and Second Rehearsal Five Little Soldier Boys!!

Calli, Danielle, Summer and Isaiah
being directed by Connor
I had my second rehearsal today! The first rehearsal was just warm ups and a read through, but today we got to begin blocking.  I only had three of my five actors today so that we could work their scene.  I was a little overwhelmed at first when we got to the page of the script that we were working because I only had vague ideas for what they could be doing.  I had them play Sit Stand Stand (One person sitting at all times) and they ran with the game! The game helped them move around the stage and interact with one another.  My cast works extremely well together.  They were always working off of and moving and reacting to one another. They each made strong character decisions and stuck with them, making the play look so real while being so absurd at the same time. I made them all take notes on their scripts so that they could remember their blocking cues.  They were able to do so much with just each other, and i felt like I was just telling them what worked and what didnt, and giving their movements a bit more structure.  I explained the fourth wal to them today, and how this play has a thin fourth wall.  The characters are in their own world, but it is also very unrealistic in terms of acting style and plot.  I was very pleased by how outgoing my cast was today and I cannot wait until our next rehearsal!
